How to check a plug-in solar device on the ENA register

A practical guide to matching the exact manufacturer, model and ENA status before you buy a plug-in solar kit.

The short answer

Search the official ENA Connect Direct plug-in solar register for the exact manufacturer and complete model shown by the seller. The live status must say Compliant. A similar name, the same inverter, an 800W headline or a retailer’s use of the words plug-in solar is not enough.

Plug-In Solar Centre keeps a dated copy of the public register so that you can search it quickly and see changes. ENA remains the authority, so use the source link on the device page for a final check before purchasing or connecting anything.

Match the complete product, not just one component

The Great Britain route applies to a defined plug-in solar device. That includes the declared solar modules, inverter, connection lead, protection, instructions and mounting arrangement. A type-tested microinverter can be used inside several different products, but that does not make every bundle built around it compliant.

Write down the manufacturer exactly as it appears on the listing, the complete model or kit code, the number and type of panels, and the mounting version. Then compare those details with the ENA entry. If the seller cannot identify the corresponding record, ask for clarification before ordering.

Read the status literally

Compliant is the relevant positive status. Non-compliant, awaiting assessment and similar wording should not be treated as permission to use the product through the plug-in route. A record can also change after publication, which is why a recent check matters.

Our database keeps the last successful sync time visible and records material field changes. If a sync fails, the previous data remains available but is not presented as newly checked. That distinction is important when product eligibility can affect a buying decision.

Keep compliance and shop availability separate

An ENA record describes the assessed device; it does not prove that a retailer has stock, that the listing is the same version, or that the price is current. Conversely, a product can be prominently advertised as balcony solar without appearing as a compliant complete device.

Plug-In Solar Centre links retail listings only where the model match is sufficiently clear. Price, stock and delivery are stored as separate dated facts. Where an affiliate link is available it can replace the ordinary direct product URL, but it does not alter the ENA status or the best-price label.

Checks that still remain after a compliant match

A compliant product is not automatically suitable for every home. Check the manufacturer’s permitted mounting positions, wind and height limits, the condition and location of the socket and circuit, cable routing, property permissions and the notification process. Do not use extension leads, travel adaptors or improvised mounting.

If the home already has generation or storage, or the wiring and structural position are uncertain, obtain competent advice. The plug-in route simplifies a defined product connection; it does not remove the need to follow the instructions or assess the actual property.
